MEDITATION - AN ART

Benefits of Meditation

De-stress with Meditation
Meditation has two important benefits:
·         Meditation prevents stress
·         Meditation releases accumulated stress
Physical Benefits of Meditation
·         Lowers high blood pressure
·         Lowers the levels of blood lactate, reducing anxiety attacks
·         Decreases any tension-related pain, such as, tension headaches, ulcers, insomnia, muscle and joint problems
·         Increases serotonin production that improves mood and behavior
·         Improves the immune system
·         Increases the energy level, as you gain an inner source of energy
Mental Benefits of Meditation
·         Anxiety decreases
·         Emotional stability improves
·         Creativity increases
·         Happiness increases
·         Intuition develops
·         Gain clarity and peace of mind
·         Problems become smaller
·         Meditation sharpens the mind by gaining focus and expands through relaxation
·         A sharp mind without expansion causes tension, anger and frustration
·         An expanded consciousness without sharpness can lead to lack of action/progress
·         The balance of a sharp mind and an expanded consciousness brings perfection
Meditation makes you aware - that your inner attitude determines your happiness.
Emotional steadiness and harmony: it cleanses and nourishes you from within and calms you, whenever you feel overwhelmed, unstable, or emotionally shut down.
Meditation brings harmony in creation: when you meditate, you are in the space of vastness, calmness and joy and this is what you emit into the environment, bringing harmony to the Creation/planet.
Consciousness evolves: with the assimilation of meditation into daily life, your consciousness evolves and in time, is able to experience the higher and refined states of consciousness.
When your consciousness evolves and expands, the disturbances in your life become negligible. Anger and disappointments become fleeting emotions that occur momentarily and then vanish. You start living in 'the moment' and let go of 'the past'.
Personal Transformation: meditation can bring about a true personal transformation. As you learn more about yourself, you’ll naturally want to discover more about the mystery of life, this universe, etc. Then the questions that arise in the mind are - What is the meaning of Life? What is its purpose? What is this world, what is love, what is knowledge...?
Once these questions arise, know that you are very fortunate. These questions need to be understood; you cannot find the answers in books. As you live through answering them you’ll witness that life transformation to a richer level.
Cosmic consciousness dawns in you
With the assimilation of meditation into daily life, the fifth state of consciousness*, called cosmic consciousness, dawns. Cosmic consciousness - is to perceive the whole cosmos as part of oneself.
When you perceive the world as a part of yourself, love flows strongly between the world and you. This love empowers you to bear the opposing forces and the disturbances in your life. Anger and disappointments become fleeting emotions that occur momentarily and then vanish. You start living in 'the moment' and let go of 'the past'.
The confluence of knowledge, understanding and practice makes life complete. When you grow into higher states of consciousness, you become beautiful yet strong - a soft, delicate and beautiful blossom capable of accommodating different values in life without any conditions.

Enjoy a refreshing few minutes of meditation daily. Dive deep into yourself and enrich your life.

Good teaching
Good teaching is all about listening, questioning, being responsive, and remembering that each student and class is different.
Importantly good teaching is about humor.
Effective teaching
1.      Preparation
2.      Plan your method of teaching carefully
3.      Know your audience
4.      Practice your method of teaching
5.      Speak comfortably and clearly
6.      Talk to your audience
7.      Enjoy your teaching
Dealing with Disengaged Students
1. One of the most basic things to do with disengage students is get to know your students and get them for personal one – one counseling.
2. Assess their progress often via tests, class participation and assignments.
3. Use those students to help you in teaching. Have a few students present a topic from a new chapter each week.
4. Take advantage of student’s existing skills, knowledge and experience.

ESSENCE OF DAY 4

Ms. ANANTHI J
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
DEPARTMENT OF ECE
Dear sir,
The session started with quiet time. I was ready to learn new concepts in interactive teaching. The game of 45 second made us understand that out of sight is out of mind. It also taught us that most of the time we work with mental model not realising the reality. Refection improves the listening skill. It is an excellent assessment tool in collaborative learning. I tend to react immediately even before the speaker finishes with his/her questions. This game consciously reminded the mistake I was doing. I have made up my mind to improve my listening skills. The T GROW model is interesting. It is useful for preparing the lesson plan. It helped in understanding the reality for implementing the interactive method.
Exit slip:
1. Which part of the session you like most?
I like the reflection game. It improves the listening skill. It provides different solutions to the same problem.
2. Question:
Can we use reflection game as a processing technique?
3. Which activity will you implement in classroom?
I will implement the doodle and reflection game.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

Problem-Solving Teaching Strategy for the Classroom:
1)      1) Understand the problem. It's important that students understand the nature of a problem and its related goals. Encourage students to frame a problem in their own words.
2)      2) Identify various solutions.
Here are some problem-solving possibilities:
·         Create visual images
·         Give students opportunities to engage in some trial-and-error approaches to problem-solving. It should be understood, however, that this is not a singular approach to problem-solving but rather an attempt to gather some preliminary data.
·         By moving objects around on a table or desk, students can develop patterns and organize elements of a problem into recognizable and visually satisfying components.
·         Work backward. It's frequently helpful for students to take the data presented at the end of a problem and use a series of computations to arrive at the data presented at the beginning of the problem.

·         Create a table. A table is an orderly arrangement of data. When students have opportunities to design and create tables of information, they begin to understand that they can group and organize most data relative to a problem.

SESSION REPORT OF DAY 4

Ms. KALAISELVI A
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR
DEPARTMENT OF IT

Hello sir,
Today's session is really good. Especially that game of 35 is superb, i really liked it. because our staffs shared their own ideas about how to make the students to study and how to engage the classes without any distraction really i learned something from them. And i would like to share my idea with you sir.
          The problem is,
1.  how to make the students to study and
2.  how to engage the classes without any distraction
my solution for this problem is, here we can easily apply that hello game we'll make them as a group and we will assign some topics to each group and we will ask them to present. if we did that means surely they will start learning about that topic because without knowing anything they can't be able to present obviously they should start studying. if we got solution for our first problem means there is no way for any distractions in our class rooms.

SESSION REPORT BY Ms. SARASWATHI M

Day 3 Session Report

 Ms. SARASWATHI M
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR
DEPARTMENT OF CSE

Dear Sir,
I feel happy to present my experience, on activities we have undergone at day 3 of this training session as a report.
We started up the day 3 of the session by practicing the “Mind Fullness” technique. We learnt about the power of focus. We have to focus in the positive way always to reach our goal. After this we did the number game, which made us to understand how the problem should be solved in a different way. We learnt a technique KDR. We got idea about interactive teaching methods.
Finally, we played a game of 35, which we can adopt to our class rooms to make the classes as interesting and interactive. In that game, everyone shared their idea on how to handle the student distraction? We have to implement intelligent interruptions technique among students to communicate important point.
Question
  1. How to improve self confidence among students?

Essence of Day 3 by Ms.Ananthi

ESSENCE OF DAY 3
Ananthi J
Associate Professor
Department of ECE

Dear sir,

The quiet time made my mind fresh and open to learn new concepts for interactive teaching. I was happy to start the session with a small prayer said by Mr. Venugopal. His explanation for the prayer was amazing that gave me a good notion about eternal blissful happiness. The pattern game was an eye-opener not to follow regular patterns to find the solution to different problems. Every student is different hence the approach should also be different.
Creative ways to use the library apart from the monotonous method is worth mentioning. Implementing the collaborative learning and the know-do-reflect approach using the library resource is excellent.
The game of 35 help in providing solutions to a problem and finding the optimal solution based on the rating given by the peers. The solution given is graded on 35 points.
We lose the essence of life/goal during our journey to achieve the goal. We are in a hurry to complete the syllabus in turn failed to know the students and their needs. We were able to realise this from the game of INTERRUPTION. I have realised that more importance should be given for creating the interpersonal relation or the rapport with students.
I will implement the Quiet time, game of 35, Interruption during lecture to communicate something in the classroom to make a change in the boring teaching methods.
